OUR STORY

Fresh WA hops grown for WA brewers

South West Hops is a multi-generational family-owned business. We made the Blackwood region our home in 2004, moving from inner-city Perth. We first started our hop journey as backyard growers on a  4-acre property in Bridgetown, but soon realised growing hops was our passion.

We were lucky enough to find our perfect property,  a 100-acre farm in picturesque Yornup (10km south of Bridgetown) in 2021 and began our commercial hop growing journey.

When we aren't working in our hop yard, we are busy riding horses, looking after our small herd of cattle, pigs, walking our dogs, having a beer on the veranda, and generally enjoying country life.

As a family, we are committed to managing the land ensuring; we have healthiest soils that create the best plants/ products, that we work with the local ecology, not against it, and we continue supporting the environment for future generations.

This is reflected in all our farming practices.

Harvest

Between February and March, it is all hands on deck. We are busy processing our matured  hops to make your beer outstanding.

Outside of that, you'll find us preparing the yard, planting and the glorious task of hand-weeding.

Have more questions about how it all works? Check out our How to Order page.

Our sustainably grown hops will help create a truly WA made beer using locally sourced products, and we deliver directly to your door, or come down, hang out and help in the harvest. Please reach out to confirm timing.

South West Hops acknowledges the cultural custodians of the land, the Pibulmun-Wadandi people. We acknowledge and support their continuing connection to the land, waterways and community. We pay our respects to members of the Aboriginal communities and their culture; and to Elders past and present, their descendants still with us today, and those who will follow in their footsteps.
